Chico State EcoFest 2008

On Saturday April 19th I attended Chico State's EcoFest.  This event was full of surprises to me.  When i showed up there was music playing and about 10 women putting on a dance routine.  I watched this for a while before I started to check out the other stuff.  I then started walking around and checking out the stands that would grab my attention.  One of the stands was where they were selling pies.  I was talking to the two ladies that were running the stand about what makes these pies special.  They told me that all of the pies were organic, and also they were uncooked because of the gas that would be used in an oven doesn't help the environment and wouldn't be considered going green. 

After that i went over to the area where there were a bunch of posterboards.  I noticed that each one was a different college school describing what they have done to go green.  This was real interesting to me, because I knew that people always talked about it, but really didn't know if people were taking action.  Plus it was also nice to see becasue I got to see examples of how a person can help go green.  Some of the schools posterboards that i looked at were: University of Oregon, University of North Carolina, University of Arizona, and also Chico State University.  These are some big name universities that are all helping the environment in going green. 

I stayed around EcoFest for a little over an hour stopping by each table for a brief moment to see what they were all about.  I enjoyed my time at EcoFest, because of the wide range of people.  I'm from Eureka Ca. and right next to Eureka is Arcata which is actually known for its abundance of "hippies."  When in Arcata you hear people who are all about going green.  Truthfully since they are all kind of the same type of person, it gets kind of annoying.  Coming to EcoFest i was surprised to see the wide variety of people, which was nice and helped me pay closer attention to what was happening at each stand.
